Overview

Dr. Randhir Sud, Chairman of the Department of Digestive & Hepatobiliary Sciences, is a well-reputed gastroenterologist in India, who has pioneered therapeutic GI endoscopy and initiated the GI Oncology program in India. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to gastroenterology. He is an expert in gastrointestinal endoscopy, gastrointestinal cancers, and hepatic diseases. He did his junior and senior residencies at AIIMS, New Delhi, from January 1979 to 1984, followed by a career from 1982 to 1984. In 1985, he became a gastroenterology consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. A former Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology, and lecturer at the ESIC Postgraduate Institute, Dr. Sud has a rich experience of six years at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, wherein he has served as an appointed faculty and examiner for the Diplomate National Board Examination in Gastroenterology. In 1999, he was also a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School, in 2005 at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and in 2005 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. In 1977, Sud completed MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar, and in 1981 from AIIMS, D.M. Gastroenterology In 1981, and MD in Medicine in 1983 respectively.
